Buhari Support Group says it is dangerous for the government to arrest Apostle Suleiman
Apostle Suleiman had, during a recent church service, asked members of the church to kill any Fulani herdsman who tried to attack him or the worship centre, especially since the government had refused to act while the normads continue to wreak havoc in Christian communities.
Days after the video, security operatives made attempt to arrest him in Ekiti where he had gone for a crusade. He was rescued by Governor Ayodele Fayose.
The BSG, in a statement by its deputy director, Blessing Agbomhere, the government would be drawn into a religious battle if it goes ahead to arrest Suleiman.
According to the group, Suleiman is speaking the mind of the Nigerian Christian community over the issue and as such, care must be taken in that regard.
Premium Times reports that the BSG urged the SSS to focus on stopping clashes between farmers and herdsmen in parts of the country and ensure the security of lives and property instead of going after Apostle Suleiman.
“Everybody has a right to free speech. Any attempt to arrest him can cause a lot of setback for the Buhari administration.
“As a supporter of the President and a believer in this administration, I don’t want the presidency or the DSS to be drawn into a religious battle,” Agbomhere said, adding that people are not only angry about the killings in Kaduna, “they are also entitled to their opinions concerning issues of their faith, more so, because Apostle Suleiman is a leader in the Christian community.”
